The Second Glance
You know, I really hate that second glance! You know, the one that comes right after you glance at someone and then look away. Though the problem originated with the person you saw being immodest it becomes your problem for glancing in again for a second look. The first glance is a temptation and it’s not a sin to be tempted but the second time you have to make a mental decision to look or not to look!
I really hate it when at times I find myself lost in temptation and taking that second glance. I take strength in the following verse:
1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
I’m looking for that way out! Matthew 26:41 says:
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”
Who’s with me?
